Keukenhof and Orchids

Late April and it was time for my annual outing to the continent with my old friends in the Reading and District Fuchsia Society, this year to Amsterdam and world famous garden at Keukenhof near Lisse in the Netherlands. The tulips, the daffs and all the other bulbs were fantastic (800 different tulips, 7 million bulbs, 60,000 visitors on the day), but the surprise and real treat for me on a cold chilly day was stumbling across a fabulous display of orchids in the Beatrix Pavilion, more artistic than botanical, but still an amazing sight to behold.
